The Worlds most expensive Vintage watch
In the beginning of the 20th century the two avid collectors and multi-millionaires Charles Packard and Henry Graves Jr sponsored Patek Philippe in a competition to produce the worlds most complicated pocket watch. Production of the Graves Supercomplication watch started in 1928 and concluded five years later. The piece had 28 complications, 70 jewels and consisted of a mindboggling 900 individual parts. The watch was then sold for approximately 30.000 EUR. The auction house Sotheby's later auctioned it for the highest sum ever paid for a watch, approximately 7.000.000 EUR. In fact, Patek Philippe themselves tried to buy it back but lost the bidding.
